Planning for Edit Workshop and Storyboard

This week we began a task called 'The Encounter', the main storyline which we had to work around was: A character opens a door, crosses a room and sits down in a chair opposite another character, with whom she/he then exchanges a couple of lines of dialogue. 

We were given a brief of what our footage must include, some of which were:

• A range of camera shots and angles
• Continuity
• Film a wild cat sound track
• Clear knowledge and understanding of match on action, shot/reverse shot and the 180-degree rule.

To start, we firstly explored the different types of shots and angles in class so we are confident with using them in our scene such as Match on action and the Shot-Reverse-Shot. We also went through the rule of thirds and the 180 degree rule. 

We then had to decide on an idea for the footage, we wanted something humorous and not too serious. I came up with the idea of a student getting sent to the head of year for getting into an argument with her teacher. This serious topic would be changed into something funny as the student is a very stereotypical Essex common and rude girl, against a very camp teacher, 2 completely different characters in one room.

We then thought about where we would film, we decided on our Head of Years office at school as this would make the storyline of a teacher and student more clear and believable than if we filmed in a normal room. We also thought about the people we would like to act in our footage, we asked Hidaya to be the student and Naveed to be the teacher as we thought that they would portray the characters personalities really well.

We then planned our scenario on paper, writing down the shot type we will use, the camera angles, lighting (artificial, natural, low key or high key) the setting of the shot, the sound, description of what's happening and the duration. Once we were confident with each shot we started on our storyboards.
Emily completed shot 1-7 and I done shot 8-16, giving us a clear idea of what each shot will look like before we start filming.
